Each of these figures made a contribution in his or her field and achieved a certain change or accomplishment. Today, we will choose one of the most influential figures worldwide to shed light on his achievements, life, and contributions, hoping to learn wisdom from his journey or to look with greater respect at what he has offered.

The Most Influential Figure in the History of the Arab Region

Prophet Muhammad is considered the most influential figure in the entire Arab region. The American writer and historian Michael H. Hart also ranked him as one of the most influential figures in the world. He is the Prophet who brought the message of Islam, and today the number of believers in his message is about two billion people.

It is worth mentioning that the world did not see Muhammad ibn Abdullah only as a messenger, but also as a religious leader, a military commander, and a political ruler.

The Upbringing of Prophet Muhammad

Prophet Muhammad grew up in the Arabian Peninsula, specifically in Mecca. His name is Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abdul-Muttalib ibn Hashim. He belonged to Banu Hashim, part of the Quraysh tribe, which was one of the most respected and powerful tribes at that time.

The Prophet was born an orphan, as his father died before his birth during his return journey from the Levant. His mother, Amina bint Wahb, took care of him.

According to the custom of the nobles of Mecca, she sent him as an infant to live with a Bedouin family, the family of Banu Sa‘d, for two reasons. The first was breastfeeding, as he was nursed by Halima Al-Sa‘diyya, and the second was to learn pure Arabic, for which Banu Sa‘d were well known.

When the Prophet reached the age of six, Banu Sa‘d returned him to his family, and his grandfather Abdul-Muttalib took care of him. After the death of his grandfather, the care of the child Muhammad passed to his uncle Abu Talib, who gave him the necessary care and kindness until the Prophet grew old enough to depend on himself. He then worked as a shepherd and later in trade.

Muhammad became known among people for his honesty and trustworthiness. This good reputation reached one of the strongest women of Quraysh, Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, who asked Muhammad to manage her trade.

After some time, she proposed marriage to him, and he agreed. The Prophet married her at the age of 25. She became his greatest supporter among the people, alongside his uncle Abu Talib.

 This support became even clearer after the divine revelation descended upon the Prophet, as both of them protected and supported him at the beginning of the call to Islam.

The Achievements of Prophet Muhammad

If Prophet Muhammad had done nothing in his life except delivering the divine message entrusted to him, that would have been enough. However, within his prophethood, he achieved many accomplishments besides calling people to worship one God, including:

• Fighting some immoral practices that were common in society at that time, not by the sword, but by calling for good morals and teaching people proper manners.
• Uniting many Arab tribes under the banner of Islam.
• Establishing brotherhood among people.
• Treating the people of the tribes he defeated in wars with kindness, as these wars were led in defense of religion and Muslims, such as forgiving enemies during the conquest of Mecca.
• Leading a major change in human rights according to the standards of that time, as he encouraged freeing slaves, improved women’s rights, and respected the dignity of every living being.

How Has the Muhammadan Character Influenced People Until Now

Prophet Muhammad was and still is a role model for Muslims. During his life, over a period of 23 years, he tried to prepare a promising generation of young people. Many young people, as well as adults, were deeply influenced by him and followed his morals and behavior. 

As a result, influential historical figures appeared, such as Amr ibn Al-As, Tariq ibn Ziyad, and Usama ibn Zayd. In this way, Prophet Muhammad brought about a real change in the Arab character. Instead of growing up as ordinary people who affected only their small surroundings, they grew up as strong leaders who changed the world forever.

Muslims still follow the example of Prophet Muhammad, appreciate him greatly, and respect him deeply. Therefore, Prophet Muhammad remains alive in hearts, continuing to influence people through his good biography and noble morals.

One of the figures who has strongly influenced the course of events in the Arab region in recent years is the Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman. His actions and reforms have created positive changes that had a deep impact on Saudi society and also contributed to reshaping the future of Saudi Arabia in an unexpected way.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman was born in 1985 (1405 AH). He is one of the thirteen sons of the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz. In 2017, he was chosen as Crown Prince and was appointed at that time as Prime Minister, in addition to his role as Minister of Defense.

Many Saudis view Prince Mohammed bin Salman as a “son of the land,” because he refused to travel abroad for university studies in Britain like many other princes. Instead, he chose to study law and political science at King Saud University. He sought to create different sources of revenue by restructuring the economy and turning his country into a center that attracts investors from all over the world. He also focused on entertainment to attract tourists and is working hard to make Saudi Arabia a global hub connecting three continents: Asia, Africa, and Europe.

One of the most distinctive features of Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s character is his open-minded approach, which no prince before him had adopted in the same way.

So that he ordered the renewal of religious discourse and asked religious scholars to re-examine the Prophetic hadiths to identify those that are authentic and reliable. These authentic hadiths were then collected in one book, in order to clear the Prophet from weak narrations attributed to him and to reduce disagreement among Muslims.

The Prince supported the rights of Saudi women and restored some of their previously denied rights, such as the right to drive and the right to enter stadiums. He also encouraged empowering women in various fields, including religious scholarship and the military field.
